The Eye is an indie supernatural thriller that is being released in
the U.S. on June 6th by Palm Pictures. The film is directed by Danny
and Oxide Pang and has received 3 Hong Kong Academy Award nominations.
The Eye was the top grossing horror film in Hong Kong, Thailand,
Singapore, Korea and the UK last year. This movie has an immense cult
following and right have been purchased last year by Tom Cruise's
production company, signaling that an English remake is likely to turn
up soon.
Synopsis: The story revolves around a blind woman Mun (Lee Sin-Je)
who undergoes a risky cornea transplant operation that restores her
vision, but causes a series of inexplicable events and visions.
Unable to decipher what is real from what is a trick of her new eyes,
Mun goes on a desperate path to uncover the truth and find out what it
is that she is seeing through her new eyes. The movie is bound to keep
audience on the edge of their seats, entranced with the beauty and
subtlety of the story and cinematography.
