Oscars 2001 Report

I need to report that I was wrong on two counts with my Oscar predictions (scroll down to find them). Sir Ian Mckellen did not get an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and "Amelie" did not gain Oscar status as Best Foreign Film. The evening proved to be a surprise on various counts, with quite a few Honorary Oscars presented. The full list of the evening's winners is below:

Oscars 2001 - Predictions and Wishes
Written by: Katherine B.  (editor)

I have finally managed to catch up on one of the most important movies this year, "A Beautiful Mind." Simply put, it's a Beautiful movie. Oscar is a wonderful little guy and I think he should walk away with Russell Crowe. This, despite his previous win. This is the film that he has really earned it for (not Gladiator). I will be disappointed if he doesn't get it based on Hollywood politics. Crowe has really shown great depth and immense talent in this role. However odds point to Denzel Washington.  Similarly, Jennifer Connelly is who I stand by for Best Supporting Actress. And no masterpiece can be complete without its Best Director, Ron Howard.

For Best Actress, Halle Berry has got my vote (and I have a feeling that she also has the Academy's vote) for her groundbreaking performance in Lions Gate Film's "Monster's Ball." Best Supporting Actor is Sir Ian Mckellen, a fine English actor that can never disappoint with his performance it seems.

In the newly introduced category, Best Animated Film, Shrek is unbeatable (not to mention funny). And the Best Foreign Film honors will go to the enchanting "Amelie."

And for Best Picture...
My heart is set on A Beautiful Mind winning, and it has great chance. (I also have a feeling in my stomach that the musical and vivacious Moulin Rouge might surprise us.)

Stay tuned for the winners this Sunday, March 24th - on TV sets everywhere!
