Travel: New York: CLARION FIFTH AVENUE
Written by: Katherine Brodsky

429 Park Avenue South, New York City, New York 10016

This is not a hotel for someone expecting luxury. This hotel is distinguished in only one aspect: location. Located in the Murray Hill section it is within walking distance of Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Macy's, Times Square, and just across the road from the quaint Bryant Park and the stunning library.

Despite its lack of special amenities, the hotel is quiet, staff is polite, the room is reasonable in size (though not large by any means) and fairly clean, and the price is right.  Most people report to have paid between $120-160.  The only matter of discomfort was the mattress. It was incredibly hard, something that my back is not keen to take well.

For what it is, this is a great place to stop over if you want to be in the middle of all the action without the bill that usually accompanies it. If the mattress would change, I would stay here again - easily.

VERDICT: 3.5 out of 5
